How do you know?

The other day I got this as an interview question. "How do you know when you are in love?" I thought it was a pretty good question. The problem is, they don`t give very much space for an answer. Below is all I had room to type in reply.

Your answer: "Its a feeling you get. that can`t really be described. Its like you are just filled with all these great feelings. When the other person isn`t around, you feel like a part of you is missing. If they are happy, you are happy. If they hurt , you hurt."

That covers some of it, but there is so much more. I thought I`d take this space today to try to answer that question more accurately. This is my opinion only. I`m sure there are things I`ll leave out. Feel free to add anything you like as a comment.

Other ways you know you are in love are as soon as you see this person, you automatically are happy. It doesn`t matter how bad a mood you are in. It doesn`t matter how bad your day has been. As soon as you see this person, or hear them, you feel better. You feel like nothing was ever wrong to begin with.

You know you are in love when the time you spend with this person zips by, and the time away from them feels like eons.

You know you are in love when the thought of waking up one day without this person in your life.. well, you can`t even imagine such a thing.

You are in love if seeing this person happy makes you happier than you`ve ever been.

You are in love if you would gladly and willingly give up everything to be with this person.

If the thought of moving somewhere so cold that in winter that you can actually freeze your nipples off to be with this person sounds like a pretty damn good plan, you are in love.

If you can see yourself spending the rest of your life with this person, you are in love.

If you see this person with clothes on that don`t match and their hair is all messed up and you can`t remember a sight quite as beautiful, you are in love.

My brain is starting to go blank now. Thats where you guys come in. Any other examples you can think of, just put them in the comment section. I look forward to seeing them.

I think the best way to know you are in love, though, is you just know. It just hits you like an anvil. You just know. I know. I`m in love! It`s awesome!

I don`t think love is that you can`t live without this person, but you would certainly rather not have to live without them.

Thanks for reading!

Hey all!  Today is the first time I've written here in a long, long time.

Today is Tuesday August 2, 2005.  It is Christina's birthday.  Most of you don't know who Christina is.  I suppose I should fill those of you who read this in.

Christina is a girl I met a little less than a year ago.  We met completely by accident, and its partly Tam's fault for introducing me to poutine.  Anyway, we met and started talking.  We got along well, but were just friends for a while.  We grew together as friends, and started talking more and more until we both realized that we missed each other when we weren't together.  So, it turned out we were falling for each other.  Now, I love her more than anything in this world.  She is my other half.  She completes me in everyway.  She doesn't like football, and knows nothing about baseball, so we need to work on that.  Other than that, she is perfect.

I miss my friends here, Tam, Cyn, Shan, and Ginny.  You guys are the only reasons I still make an occassional appearance here.  I'll keep doing so as long as you guys are around.

Thats all I have.  Thanks for reading.

Time flies when you are having fun   ... or working your ass off. Today is much the same as the previous two, work, work, and more work. The days are flying by, so I`m okay with it. I miss my play time, though. I haven`t had nearly enough of it this week.

I spent a little time with Christina last night. I was still having camera issues, so she only got to see me for about thirty minutes or so. Thats an improvement. If I don`t find a solution soon, I`ll go buy another camera. This one is pissing me off. Its kinda hard to be pissed with her around though. She makes me pretty freaking happy.

After we said goodnight, I turned on ESPN News to see the Red Sox and Braves scores. They both won. Matt Clement, the Red Sox pitcher last night, took a line drive behind the ear. I don`t think he sustained any major injuries. I just hope it doesn`t mess him up psychologically. It was scary and made me hurt looking at it. They, of course, showed the replay over and over. If it had hit him in the temple, he would probably be dead, or at least seriously injured.

I read some Harry Potter and then went to sleep. It is getting harder an harder to put that book down every night.

I should get back to work now. Thanks for reading.

Wow!  Its been a long time since I've written in this thing.  For a while I was copying my blogs from another site to here, but I haven't even done that lately.

Today I'm posting here only.

There are several people here who I wanted to keep up with, but have done a terrible job of it.  There's Tam, Shan, and Cyn.  I met all three at the other site.  I think the world of all three of them.  I'm sorry to you three for not doing a better job of staying in touch.

Its been so long since I've written here I won't even try to recap everything that has happened in that time.  I'll just mention what has been going on lately.

They are re-doing all the offices here at work.  This one is next.  Tomorrow we have to start moving to our temporary quarters.  I don't look forward to it at all.  I'm going to be stuck in a very small room with my boss.  He drives me fucking nuts.  I hope this work doesn't take very long.  I'll be in a very bad mood if it does.

My nephew has started playing t-ball.  I go every chance I get to see him play.  Its fun to watch.  They all try so hard.  There's one kid who goes out into the field, sits down and plays in the dirt.  Its cute to watch him.  He doesn't have a care in the world while he's out there.  The last game I went to, there was a kid who went from first base to second base, and then back to first base.  Everyone was yelling for him to go back, even those on the other team.  But, he wanted to be on first base, and there was no stopping him.

Thats pretty much it.  Work is crazy lately.  It keeps me more than busy.

I hope all my friends here are doing well.  I've missed the hell out of y'all!

I mentioned earlier in the week that my family and I went to Berry College on Saturday and went walking. Most people have never heard of Berry College, much less seen it.

Berry College is a college here in Rome. It was started by a lady named Martha Berry, in 1902. It started as a one room school house, and wouldn`t you know that I forgot to take a picture of it. I have a picture of it somewhere though. Anyway, much like most schools back in that time, it doubled as a church on Sunday mornings. Its very "Little House on the Prairie" ish.

The campus is 38,000 acres. That makes it one of, if not the, largest campus in the world. There are only 1,350 or students at the college. It is no longer free of charge. In fact, it is one of the most expensive institutions of higher learning in the United States. They still afford students the opportunity to work their way through school, however.

It is one of my favorite places to go to get away from it all. It is one of the most beautiful places I`ve seen. Most of the campus is wilderness, and a large part of it is a wildlife refuge. Scenes like this are quite commonplace.

This is the place where I got married back in 1996. It is on the campus, and is open to the public at all times, unless there is a wedding going on.

It is called Frost Chapel. Its a beautiful place. They do not hold regular services there, but as I said it is open to the public, and is a great place to go and be alone with your thoughts.

When I go walking, I normally start here.

It is an old grist mill. They still run it one weekend a year, during alumni weekend. Students used to work here grinding corn to sell. That was one of the ways students worked for their education. For the record, I have no idea who the people in this picture are.

There are many trails from here. Some go up the hill. One of my favorites follows a creek bed up Lavender Mountain. This past weekend, I took one I hadn`t been on before. I didn`t know where it went or how long it was. I was just in a mood to walk. So we started walking. We got about two miles along the trail and came upon this scene. It was breathtaking. I had no idea it was even there.

Apparently some others did know it was there, hence the "No Swimming" sign. The water did look very inviting. It was so crystal clear. You could see right to the bottom.

The trail has a lot of wildflowers on it too.

I plan to go back soon and see what is beyond that point. If not for my nephew being there, it would have been a very peaceful walk. He enjoyed it though.

Anyway, thats my story. I have another picture though. This one came from my parent`s house. They have a frog living inside a birdhouse. Its one of the damndest things I`ve ever seen.

Thats probably enough for today. Thanks for reading.
